19th February 2003: By now the whole world is aware of the basic start to the Harry Potter books, but here J.K.Rowling changes a few things. This is demonstrated by the fact that our hero Harry is now a pubescent boy and she has felt the need to go through the desires and thoughts of a teenage boy. "Harry found himself thinking of Cho Chang more and more as the time came to get ready to go back to hogwarts. Wondering how much she had grown during the summer and whether she might like to spend some time with him. As had been happening a lot more over the summer he found his hand sliding down to the zip in his oversized jeans, and contained inside those jeans was the wand that he wanted Cho's hand around." This demonstrates that J.K.Rowling had decided that the time has come to address the "Birds and Bees" part of Harry's education into her books, but the important factor that needed to be addressed is the fact that Harry's parents are dead and can't teach him what he needs to learn, and so as you see it falls to two of his dearest friends to help him overcome his problem. "Now
Harry you watch me and Hermione as we fool around and feel free to move
around to get a better position to see everything you want to see," J.K.Rowling does not stop Harry's education here as she feels the need to let him experience all the best that life has to offer now, in prelude to potential tragedy in the final two books in this series. "Fred
looked around and after making sure that no-one could see passed Harry
what looked like a cigarette, Nevertheless the book also deals with the things that everyone wants to know about what has been happening at Hogwarts since the climactic end to the previous books. Hagrid is spending more time seeing Madame Maxime and they often disappear for a weekend or more, Professor Snape is being his usually weird is he bad-or-not self and Sirius Black is spending more time visiting Harry now that everyone near to Harry is on to the fact that he can change his shape into that of a big black rabid dog. All in all this is a true account of Harry's next year at Hogwarts and we can expect a lot of danger and fun for all the family that is contained within the book. I would however urge that parents be careful with the age that their children read this book as the content is adult in a few scenes and certainly the fact that Harry is now masturbating and experimenting with drugs might not be appropriate for all ages. However as an adult myself I feel it is ok to recommend this book as a great story and perhaps a good way of bringing up sex education at home. I rate this book as 9/10. |
